Welcome Back! – a Message from Principal Wiebe

Dear Wyngate Families,

We hope that you enjoyed your break!  We are excited to see many students back in person later this week.  Please see the reminders below.

Calendar Adjustments:

  • Tuesday, April 6 – Virtual Learning for All Students
  • Wednesday, April 7 – Remain Virtual as Scheduled
  • Thursday, April 8 – In Person Learning Resumes for K-2 and Week A for Grades 3 and 4 **Virtual Learning for Grades 4 and 5 begins at 10:30 am
  • Monday, April 12 – In Person Learning for K-2 and Week B for Grades 3 and 5  **Virtual Learning for Grades 4 and 5 begins at 10:30 am

Stay safe over spring break and take a COVID-19 test. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Montgomery County health officials are discouraging out-of-state travel over spring break. If you travel, we strongly encourage you to take a COVID-19 test before you return to a school building. To ensure you have time to test, Tuesday, April 6 is now a virtual learning day for ALL students. Wednesday, April 7 will remain a virtual day as scheduled. Students scheduled to return on April 6 (Group 1.2) will return to buildings on Thursday, April 8. You can get a COVID-19 test from your healthcare provider or for free at a county testing site. Please take this important step to keep our community safe.

COVID-19 Pooled Testing at Wyngate

COVID-19 testing will begin at Wyngate after Spring Break. Additional details were shared in a recent MCPS community update. We must all do our part to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus in our schools. This includes participating in school-provided COVID-19 testing to identify cases where the student or staff member may not be showing symptoms. Tests will be provided on a weekly basis for all students and staff who have opted in to the process.

We will communicate our school’s start date after the break. Please make sure you have opted in by completing and returning the consent form for each of your students.

Please complete the Google Form below to opt-in to the testing.
