Dear Wyngate families,
On December 4, award-winning and The New York Times bestselling graphic novelist and author/illustrator Kazu Kibuishi will visit with students during grade-specific assemblies. The PTA has sponsored his visit, and the Foundation has purchased a copy of one of Mr. Kibuishi’s books for every Wyngate classroom, as well as a set of his books for our school’s media center. More details about the event, and Mr. Kibuishi, can be found in the attached packet.
Your child’s classroom teacher received one of Mr Kibuishi’s books today—Copper for K-2 classrooms, Amulet 1 for 3-5 classrooms—in anticipation of his upcoming visit, and will be sharing the book with students over the coming weeks.
We hope that students enjoy the art page and bookmark contests, as included in the attached packet. The Wyngate classroom with the most number of art page submissions (one per student, please) will host a private graphic novel workshop in their classroom with Mr. Kibuishi on the afternoon of his visit. Also, the winner of the bookmark contest will have his or her bookmark printed and distributed to every Wyngate student as a special keepsake of the event. The Scholastic Book Fair presales order form allows you to both enjoy Mr. Kibuishi’s books at home while also supporting the Wyngate PTA.
All art pages, bookmark contest entries, and Scholastic Book Fair presales order forms are due to classroom teachers or the “Kazu Box” in the main office by Friday, November 2.
We look forward to Mr. Kibuishi’s visit on December 4! Happy reading!
Wyngate PTA and Wyngate Foundation
