Description: This popular class is a disciplined introduction to the sport by Kaizen Karate. Description: Learning another language and about another culture is an enduring and powerful life skill that allows us to communicate and make meaningful connections with others. This level introduces a broad variety of topics and cultural notes that allow children to explore customs and traditions, geography, history, and practical use of the language as they begin to read and write in the language. Description: GOTR is an afterschool activity for girls in grades 3-5 that integrates running with activities that teach girls important life lessons, such as making good choices, positive self-talk, emotional health, friendship, and teamwork. It is a ten-week program that will meet at Wyngate ES, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:35-5:05 PM, September 12-November 16, with the lessons/practices taking place at the corner of Wilmett Road and Bulls Run Parkway. The GOTR season will culminate with a celebratory 5K run (3.1 miles, 5 km) with all the GOTR teams in Montgomery County on November 19. GOTR will be led by trained coaches who are parent volunteers or teachers.

Description: Hip Hop is a high-energy dance form that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B, and pop music, and is perfect for boys and girls who love to move! Description: Explore a new world of communication by learning American Sign Language (ASL)! ASL is the fourth most used language in the U.S. and learning ASL can open new lines of communication between hearing and hearing impaired, individuals. Additionally, studies have shown that learning the ASL signs for letters and words can help children with spelling and vocabulary skills. Description: In this engaging course, students will delve into the world of robotics by building their own robots. Throughout the program, they will learn about electrical circuit theory and various electrical components such as servo motors, photo-resistors, infrared sensors, and transmitters. Description: Tommie Shaw & Company’s Beginner Ballet course is designed for younger ballet students of both genders. The class starts with a basic ballet center barre, followed by basic center floor ballet steps and simple ballet combinations moving across the floor. Beginner adagio, petit allegro and very simple grand allegro steps are introduced. French ballet terms are spoken and taught in the course and classical music is used for accompaniment. Description: We are back to school and back to drawing with Young Rembrandts! This session’s selection of drawings introduces our students to a fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. We say goodbye to our favorite summer memory in our detailed still life drawing of a beach. We explore color usage and composition in our silly monster and fire truck drawings. You will be MOOOOOved with our stylized patterned cow drawing that not only challenges our technique but also our color scheme.
