Hello Wyngate Community,
We are Wyngate Elementary Cares (“WE Cares”)! WE Cares provides PTA-sponsored opportunities for Wyngate students and their families to participate in service activities that benefit our larger community. We have goals of keeping our community active, cohesive, caring, and focused on doing good for others. For the 2020-2021 school year, we are planning a number of exciting and rewarding virtual and socially distanced activities!
We hope to find creative ways to continue our favorite community service events, such as Card Creating, Sandwich Making and Clothing Drives, while also bringing new volunteer opportunities to Wyngate.
To kick off the school year, our first volunteer opportunity is happening now! WE Cares is collecting school supplies for students at Wheaton Woods Elementary School in Rockville, where many families are facing financial hardship during the pandemic. Please sign up to purchase school supplies for a child in need by clicking this link. A copy of Wheaton Woods’s school supply list is also attached. Please note that backpacks are optional because of virtual learning. All supplies need to be dropped off at the Dyer house (8914 Grant Street) on August 26 or 27 in a clearly labeled bag (i.e. “1st Grade Girl”) so that the children can have supplies for the start of school. A collection box will be out front. Let us know if you have questions!
Interested in helping but unable to commit to a full bag of school supplies? Please consider buying an item from our Amazon wish list for Wheaton Woods. If you are buying off the wish list, supplies will be shipped directly to us and we will deliver them to the school. Please make sure they arrive by August 27 so that students can have them for the start of the school year.
